Business AnalysisThe purpose of an application is to help an organization meet a goal. To meet that goal, you need to know where you are today and how you're going to move forward. BSG student analysts play a critical role in making sure that our clients are on the right track and that the applications we develop will help them get where they want to be.
Getting bits and bytes from Point A to Point B requires instructions. Those instructions come in the form of software that runs on hardware. The art of designing and implementing software is complex and learned only through experience. You can read all you want about it, but until you're asked to make it happen, you might as well consider yourself an armchair quarterback. At BSG, we help students learn how to play the game.
Project Management-At BSG, students learn the significance of budget, time and scope. Unlike in a pure research environment, BSG client projects are subject to the same constraints faced by any other "real-world" endeavor. Some students discover that they have a knack for managing project resources and expectations. BSG helps these students focus their talents and develop their skills to build a career in project management.
Software Engineering-OOP. SOA. Continuous Integration Testing. Agile. Extreme. Open Source. Shared Source. .NET. BSG students leave OSU with a working vocabulary of current software development vernacular - and a knowledge of how and when to use it that can only come from experience.
We work to make sure it works...Wireless, fiber, copper, software, you name it - if it runs across a network or on a computer, we test it. It's fundamental work, and engineering and Management Information Systems (MIS) students can dig into it and get the job done. They know what to look for, and they find it!
Networked Products Testing-Our legacy is grounded in testing networked products. From interoperability to the newest network management features, BSG students test hardware and software that keeps the world's networks running. Our corporate partners depend on the skills and sophistication of the BSG testing labs to ensure trouble-free networks and happy customers.
Software Testing- Bugs. Detail work. Exhaustive searches. Eye strain. If it can be broken, we find out how - and we do it before it becomes a critical production emergency. BSG combines its legacy of product testing and its expertise in software development to thoroughly test tomorrow's productivity applications.
Test Plan Development-Black box, white box, clear box, gray box - we think outside the box. BSG students discover how to approach every testing problem from a unique perspective and convert performance specifications into workable test plans.
Quality Assurance-Process, environment, perspective, standards - testing alone doesn't guarantee quality. BSG students learn to look for the unseen and question the obvious. When it comes to quality, nothing beats the well-trained eye of the curious and eager.
